I’m Steph, hi! I live with my filmmaker fella, monkey of a daughter and antisocial cat amongst the gums on the outskirts of Melbourne. A few good things, according to me: empathy; the bush; live music; artichokes; driving alone through the middle of nowhere with the music up and the windows down; the sound of my kid’s cackle; gardening; real life slapstick; saffron gin; everything about the ocean. I really bloody love my family and friends. And I love taking the long way home.
I inherited my love of photography from my dad. I was given my first camera when I was 16 (and it was 18), back when it was all film, and I've been photographing ever since. I was addicted to the magic of the darkroom during high school, honed my technical skills at TAFE and later completed a Bachelor of Fine Art majoring in Photomedia. I'm an exhibiting artist, and I’ve also got this great gig photographing weddings and portraits.
I bring creativity and heart to each and every job. My aim is always to capture people being themselves, so I'm not into over-the-top posing directions; instead, I offer gentle guidance and keep shoots relaxed, spontaneous and collaborative - not only to get the magic stuff, but so you enjoy the time too (which means I get the magic stuff).
I try to be as unobtrusive as possible at weddings. My emphasis is on creatively documenting the day as it unfolds, capturing moments big and small - including many that you won't have been aware of until you see the photos. We'll also spend some time just the three of us taking portraits; even if you're camera-shy, this is actually a really lovely time that you get to spend together amidst the mayhem of your wedding day. In the end, I want to give you a collection of photographs that brings your wedding day and all its emotion back to life; an evocative record of you two, loved-up to the brim and surrounded by your favourite people, enjoying one of the very best days of your lives.
